Ironman Gravity 1000 Inversion Table Review

Ironman Gravity 1000The Ironman Gravity 1000 inversion table is a very popular, basic entry-level model. It is not as comfortable as higher end models, but gets the job done admirably. Let’s take a closer look and see if it is worth your money.

The Ironman Gravity 1000 is fairly easy to assemble. A manual and detailed assembly instructions are included. You can do the assembly alone, but attaching the table to the frame is easier if you have help. You can expect to spend about 30 – 45 minutes assembling the unit. Tools are included in the packaging, but they’re no substitute for a proper toolbox. If you have one, use real tools instead of the provided ones to speed up assembly.

Using the Table

At first glance this is a solidly built table with a tubular steel frame. It is fairly light at only 46 pounds, making it easy to move around. It is rated to support up to 300 pounds, but doesn’t have the heavy duty construction of the Gravity 4000. For this reason we would recommend that, if you’re anywhere near the weight limit, the 4000 may be a safer option. A scratch-resistant powder coated finish will help the table look like new for longer, while rubber non-stick feet keeps the unit firmly in place.

The nylon covered back is quite comfortable, but not the level of comfort you get with the foam padded models.

The ergonomically molded ankle cushions do a good job of keeping your feet secure during inversion. If you secure them tightly enough they’re quite comfortable. However, large and heavy people may experience some discomfort when inverted because of the extra stress their size will put on this area.

You may need to experiment a bit to find your own sweet spot for comfort. For some people wearing shoes helps, others swear that wearing socks only increases the comfort. The spring loaded mechanism means you can release your ankles with the simple pulling of a pin.

The 4000 model has a more comfortable ratchet based ankle lock system, but this one is adequate for the price range. If you have trouble bending over, or experience extreme pain when doing so, you may need someone to help you when securing your feet.

Properly balancing your position on the unit may take some trial and error, but once you have found the sweet spot inversion is a breeze. Stretching your arms out over your head (slowly to begin with!) will set the inversion process in motion. To get back upright again, just drop your hands to your sides, and then use the long handles to pull yourself the rest of the way.

You will be able to get out of inversion without having to bend your back or sit upright if you have properly balanced your position on the table.

Gravity 1000The tether strap for setting your inversion angle works fine, but brings with it the same problem as on all Ironman models that use it: you cannot fix your position exactly, so if someone uses the table after you and changes the angle, you need to adjust it again from scratch next time. This is never a major inconvenience, but just something to take note of.

User Results

Despite its low price, the Ironman Gravity 1000 still delivers very real results. We tracked down the eperiences from current owners of the product to see how it has helped them. Here are some of their comments:

“It has been 3 years since I purchased the Ironman inversion table and I couldn’t be happier. I had sciatic nerve pain so bad I couldn’t sit, stand, bend over, etc. I had one bulging disk and a herniated disk. So after 2 MRIs, several cortisone shots, physical therapy, etc. I was scheduled for back surgery. I avoid surgery when possible but after dealing with the pain for over a year, I decided to go ahead and schedule it for 3 months out. As a last resort, purchased this inversion table. I inverted twice a day, iced, stretched, rested, etc. and I am happy to say I felt better and did not get the back surgery and don’t regret it at all.” JCS, Amazon

“I have a lot of tightness in my hamstrings along with constant ache in my shoulders from my job (at a computer). I feel the immediate stretch and my upper back felt better in just a few days. I’d recommend it for anyone who has that same type of tightness.” Barb Stichens, Amazon

“This thing relieved my lower back pain within 4 days. I sat down one day and felt a click in my lower back finally. The inversion table had separated the vertabrae gently and allowed the nerves to become unpinched. This table is well built and it will pay for itself by not having to go to chiropractor and from the joy of living pain free. This really works.” Travis, Amazon

Customer Reviews

We always gather opinions from other users to give you the best possible overview of the product. The measure of a good product is whether it satisfies the majority of its users. In the case of the Gravity 1000, it seems to do just that. Here are some comments from other users:

“We’ve used Ironman for a month and are thrilled with the results. My husband is 6’4 and a very large build at 280lbs, this table is well made and easily supports his size. He has suffered from lower back pains and using this twice a day has made them nearly disapear. My aches and pains have also been alleviated.” Brenda, Amazon

“Shopped for an inversion table for a while, finally settled on this one, and I think it was a good choice. Construction is better than expected, very sturdy, but it is rated for 300 pounds, after all. The molded ankle cushions are quite comfortable as long as I wear my shoes when using. My only gripe is that it’s not real easy to fold and store. Being as sturdy as it is, it’s kinda heavy and clumsy to move around. But if you leave it in one place, it works great. And yes, it has helped my back!” TMC151, Amazon

“I’ve liked the Ironman Gravity 1000 from the beginning. First, it is well built, not “cheap” at all (although it is extremely inexpensive). I use my table frequently but for very short stretches, and I have always felt comfortable before, during, and after using the table.” Erlyn Baack,
